Below is a list on what to do when your child has a new autism diagnosis:
1) Do not panic, life will be a challenge, but there is hope. With early diagnosis, there is much better hope of your child living a productive life.
2) Contact your local Early Steps Program (for children under 3yrs of age)

3) Learn about the Florida Medicaid Waiver Program, and place your child on the wait list (yes, there is a wait list) This program is for children 3 and older.

4) Contact your local CARD, and apply. This resource can direct you to other resources.

5) Find good doctors and therapists who are familiar with autism.
